Metamorphosing is a limited-edition mixed media artwork about transformation, commitment and the courage to become a new version of yourself. Set among Australian flowering gum, a woman rests inside a golden cocoon as watercolour, pencil and botanical details turn the process of personal growth into a quiet, nature-inspired figurative piece.
Her Story: Cosy in her cocoon, she tucks in tight, closes her eyes, and surrenders to the process. She’s chosen a safe place to start her journey and knows that she has done all she can to prepare. Her decision is made, and she’s now committed. The time has come. The rebirth that she’s been preparing for is finally here. She is ready. She will soon re-emerge as the best version of herself.
Your Story: "Metamorphosing" captures the idea that true transformation starts from within and that you alone are the only one who can decide when the time is right. You have the potential to grow wings and soar, but you must first embrace the process to shed old limitations. Your personal evolution comes from having the courage to commit and act, making this piece a significant representation of transformative art.
My Story: The composition was inspired by my garden walks with my daughter, who often spots details I might have overlook in the rush of life, like chrysalis hanging from branches. I have a special appreciation for Australian native flora, especially the flowering gum trees with their clusters of pink blossoms. I adore the scent of eucalyptus flowers, that unique blend of sharp menthol and sweet honey. When I started creating the story for "Metamorphosing," I knew the gum tree would be its stage.
This nature-inspired art piece, like the others, began as a photograph I directed and captured. Layer by layer, I built her story, starting with soft watercolour paints. As the piece evolved, her depths and brightness emerged, with details added using watercolour pencils. Finally, I elevated the artwork with my signature gold leaf finish, allowing her to shimmer and shine in the sunlight until she's ready to transform. This art piece is my ode to embracing personal growth.
